
A recent news release from Jeffco Schools highlights 14 Jeffco students who received various prestigious scholarships, including one Boettcher Foundation scholarship, four National Merit Scholarship winners, and nine Daniels Scholars:
Boettcher Foundation Scholarship 2019:

National Merit Scholarship 2019:
- Zachary Chorny, Golden High School
- Rory Devin and Ian Widdmann, D’Evelyn High School
- Cole Gibson, Dakota Ridge High School
Daniels Scholars 2019:
- Lorenzo Reyes Diaz, Alameda International Jr./Sr. High School
- Thomas Gene Harris, Bear Creek High School
- Felix Channiago and Alana Kay Giles, Conifer High School
- Krysta Couzi and Caleb Rene Boucher, Jefferson Academy Secondary School
- Millennium Ann Mayo, Ralston Valley High School
- Christopher Bryan Crosby and Colin Trevor Gammon, Standley Lake High School
The requirements to attain these scholarship are specific and hard to achieve. For the National Merit Scholarship, a student must score in the top 1 percent on the PSAT.
The Boettcher Foundation awards students who currently plan to continue living in Colorado a scholarship covering “the cost of a scholar’s tuition, fees and books for eight semesters/12 quarters at approved Colorado four-year universities or colleges,” plus a living stipend.
Daniels Scholars must show financial need, plus “exceptional character, leadership, and a commitment to serving their communities.” These students receive four-year scholarships which can be used at schools in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. looks for students who need financial help in other states besides Colorado.
Many other graduating Jeffco seniors also received scholarships. According to Diana Wilson, executive director of communications, “Jeffco Public Schools has about 6,000 graduates from 35 schools and programs each year. Many Jeffco students are offered scholarships to four-year universities, community colleges, trade schools, and more. The scholarship offers [for 2019] exceed $90 million in value!”
