Jeffco Schools will host the first meeting of a new Community Engagement Task Force on Tuesday, June 12. The meeting is open to anyone interested in supporting students and the Jeffco community, and establishing more partnerships between them.
Superintendent Jason Glass is establishing the Community Engagement Task Force in order to better connect schools and the district to other businesses, community organizations, and other schools.
The group will identify and make recommendations about how Jeffco Schools can better connect to the larger Jeffco community. One focus will be how students can support the community and the community can support schools. Another will be on reaching Jeffco residents who do not currently have children in school.
The initial meeting will include information about current partnerships and communication. Participants will give initial feedback and plan for future meetings.
District staff anticipate that the Community Engagement Task Force will meet three to four times before presenting recommendations. However, the task force members will determine when and how often they meet.
The task force will meet from 5:30 to 7 pm in the Jeffco Schools Board Room, located on the fifth floor of the Education Center (1829 Denver West Dr., Building 27) in Golden. All are welcome to attend the meeting and join the task force.
Questions about the Community Engagement Task Force or the meeting should be directed to Tracie Apel, Jeffco Schools communication specialist, at 303-982-6831.
