Miller, Schooley to join Jeffco School Board Dec. 2

After winning the 2019 Jeffco School Board election, Stephanie Schooley and Susan Miller, will be sworn in at a special meeting on Monday, Dec. 2 at 5 pm in the Jeffco Schools Education Center fifth floor board room.

Schooley will replace outgoing member Ali Lasell in the District 3 seat. Miller will replace outgoing member Amanda Stevens in the District 4 seat. Neither Lasell nor Stevens ran for a second term.

School board members will also elect officers at the meeting.

Schooley and Miller said they’re looking forward to the work of the next four years.

“I’m honored that Jeffco voters elected me to the Board of Education and am excited to get started,” Schooley said. “I believe the best ideas and work come out of respectful relationships, and that’ll be one of my top priorities on the board.”

“Jeffco is a large and diverse district and my first order of business is to visit schools, listen to principals and educators, and get to know my fellow board members,” Schooley added.

Miller said her priorities for Jeffco are listed on her candidate website.

“I will advocate for academic achievement, financial clarity, and the expansion of learning opportunities – for students, teachers and staff,” Miller’s website states.

Combined election results show that Schooley won the District 3 seat, and Susan Miller won the District 4 seat with approximately 53 percent of the vote. Candidates Rob Applegate and Joan Chávez-Lee ran for the District 3 and 4 seats, respectively.
